The Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) company. We are Idaho created, based, and managed.

IHDE was created in 2008 as a result of the efforts of the Health Quality Planning Commission. The Health Quality Planning Commission (HQPC) was created by the 2006 Idaho Legislature. The Commission was charged with promoting improved quality of care and health outcomes through investment in health information technology.

IHDE is the Health Information Exchange (HIE) in Idaho.  Health Information Exchange enables doctors, nurses, labs, and other medical providers to securely access their patient’s electronic health information quickly, 24/7/365, to improve the speed, quality, safety, and cost of patient care.  Find more information about HIE.

The IHDE gained momentum and participants in 2008-2009. Initial funding for the effort was appropriated by Idaho’s Legislature, and in 2010 by Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant funds. Current funding comes from the many participants in the IHDE network.

In 2012, IHDE launched an Image Viewing Repository, followed in 2013 by the establishment of CCD Functionality, a Market Place Review, and support from State Initiatives such as the Statewide Healthcare Innovation Plan (SHIP).

IHDE selected a new vendor platform in 2014, which was successfully integrated and launched in 2015.

From 2016 to 2018, IHDE has successfully launched Direct Messaging, and has collaborated with a State Health Innovation Plan (SHIP) and Medicaid Healthy Connections in order to improve the speed, quality, safety, and cost of patient care statewide.

Located in Boise, Idaho, our staff consists of an ever expanding, dynamic team whose primary goal is to improve coordination of care and reduce healthcare costs for all. Click here for a list of executive leadership and how to contact us.
