Idaho Health Data Exchange to Provide Healthcare Providers with Temporary Free Access to Clinical Portal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Idaho Health Data Exchange to Provide Healthcare Providers with Temporary Free Access to Clinical Portal

March 17, 2020 (Boise, ID) – The Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE) announced today its strategic action plan to address concerns surrounding the current novel COVID-19 health pandemic. A major element to this plan is to provide temporary emergency access that will be free of charge to all healthcare providers who do not currently have access to the portal, and are caring for the citizens of Idaho both within the state, as well as in communities in neighboring states.

“We feel this is important due to the susceptibility of individuals with comorbid conditions, as well as having IRIS information (e.g. influenza, pneumonia) available as part of a complete medical record to help support care for citizens who are at risk from coronavirus,” said Dr. Craig Jones, Chief Medical Officer, IHDE. “We are currently assessing our connections to labs around the State which also may add some valuable information on completed tests.”

IHDE has promoted the exchange of health information across regional practices and facilities for the past 10 years. Its intent is to improve the workflow and efficiencies of health care providers and subsequently enhance the care and overall health of the public. Recently, IHDE committed to expanding its impact by engaging in broader opportunities with health-focused entities that have vested interest in improving the health and safety of Idahoans. Its stated goal is to better address the social, behavioral, and medical needs of the population.

If healthcare providers and organizations would like to have access to the IHDE Clinical Portal, they can add up to four staff initially. To make the process as simple as possible, please email covid-19@idahohde.org and include a prioritized list of providers and support staff names and contact information.
